Mature plant, already trellised (either U-trellis or ladder trellis)
Hoya latifolia is a striking plant that is sure to make a statement in any room. It is commonly known as the 'dinner plate hoya' due to its large, round leaves that resemble plates. The leaves can have unique splashes of color, making each plant unique.
In addition to its impressive foliage, Hoya latifolia produces beautiful white or off-white flowers that bloom in clusters of up to 50 per umbel, creating a stunning ball-like effect. These fragrant flowers are produced during warmer weather and have a sweet scent that fills the room.
While Hoya latifolia is not a fast grower, it eventually becomes quite large and needs ample space to thrive. The fleshy leaves have striking venation and may turn slightly red when exposed to direct sunlight. This plant is easy to grow and flower, making it a great choice for plant enthusiasts of all levels.
Recreate conditions under a tree canopy, where plants receive lots of light, but it is filtered through the foliage of the trees above. Your light should be bright enough to cast soft shadows.
Low Humidity: Ideally Above 40%
This Hoya tolerates a drier environment. However, it could still benefit from light humidity care, including misting and grouping together with other houseplants. May require humidifier in cooler, drier months.
Cold Tolerant: Lowest 50F/10C
This hoya will tolerate cooler conditions than most.
Does Sunstress
This plant has evolved to shift color when exposed to bright sunlight, much like a human getting a tan. This does not harm the plant with proper care.
