Bring a touch of the tropics into your home with the Hoya serpens, a stunning houseplant with almost perfectly round leaves and striking green flowers. Native to the Himalayan regions and found in several Asian countries, this plant was first sighted by Joseph Dalton Hooker in the 1880s and has since become a favorite among houseplant enthusiasts.

What makes the Hoya Serpens so beloved is its unique inflorescences. The plant produces beautiful pale green flowers that emit a sweet, vague fragrance, which becomes stronger when several flowers are open at the same time.

Care Tips: Hoya Serpens is a unique plant that can be a bit of a challenge to grow. Although we have not been able to successfully flower it, our plants do form multiple peduncles during the growing season.

It is important to note that many collectors struggle with Hoya Serpens due to incorrect growing methods. This plant can do well in enclosed containers with extremely high humidity, such as cabinets and cloches. However, once the plant acclimates to that environment, it does not like going back to low humidity, which is when collectors typically lose their plant. We suggest obtaining an established plant and acclimating it to normal household humidity.

We have had success growing them in soil and although they can be slow to grow, they thrive with proper care. The beauty of the Hoya Serpens plant is worth the extra effort!
