Hoya sigillatis is characterized by its green and pinkish spotted leaves. This plant is native to Borneo and was discovered fairly recently (only in 2004). It already has a lot of admirers, with gorgeous leaves and fragrant orange flowers that, for some, smell like caramel.

Hoya sigillatis is prone to sun stress, which gives it its characteristic pink and red color. The best practice to keep it happy is to offer it enough indirect sunlight. Like most Hoyas, this species also can thrive in lower-humid conditions, but it does benefit from high-humidity care.

Hoya sigillatis is fairly safe for animals, but the white milk present in its leaves and vines can be irritating for pets, therefore, it’s best to keep the plant out of their reach.

Care Needs

Bright diffused light

Recreate conditions under a tree canopy, where plants receive lots of light, but it is filtered through the foliage of the trees above. Your light should be bright enough to cast soft shadows.

High Humidity: Above 60%

Will benefit from high humidity care. Will likely require humidifiers, daily misting, grouping with other plants, and more.

Intermediate: Lowest 60F

This hoya does not require high heat, but does not tolerate cold as well as other varieties.

Does Sunstress

This plant has evolved to shift color when exposed to bright sunlight, much like a human getting a tan. This does not harm the plant with proper care.
