Hoya burmanica has leaves that are thicker and more rounded compared to the thin triangular leaves of Hoya pandurata. Moreover, the corolla of H. burmanica is more cupped shaped than the reflexed corolla of H. pandurata.

Despite its unusual shrubby growth habit, this plant could thrive as a handsome hanging basket if grown under suitable conditions. It rapidly blooms from cuttings, but the flowers are unscented.

This variety is endemic to Miramar and India, and was described by Rolfe in 1920.
